Govt. Degree College Uri was established in the year 2005. Initially the college started its working in small huts with some arts subjects. Presently college has one grand building with sufficient accommodation for about 2000 students including a few major science subjects which started during the year 2012. Among sciences subjects, chemistry is one of the main subject and the department has three fully equipped Laboratories for all the three branches of science i,e physical, organic and inorganic chemistry. There are also two side rooms for teaching and laboratory staff.
AIMS AND OBJECTIVES
- To achieve academic excellence in basic and applied aspects of chemical sciences.
- To impart basic and advanced education to students through teaching, experimentation, research and evaluation.
- To motivate the students to undertake research in basic and applied thrust areas of chemical sciences.
- To inculcate scientific innovations towards experimentation part of chemical sciences .
- To inspire the students towards better understanding and use of IT/ Computer oriented interphase.
FOREWORD
It is a matter of great pleasure that the Department of Chemistry has been trying hard to achieve the excellence in academic enhancement. In order to maintain the momentum of quality consciousness, the Department has undertaken several academic activities during the year 2021-22. The academic environment of the Department was stimulated to enhance the quality of teaching and learning. The Department has undertaken various activities throughout the session.
With the help of teachers and the regular faculty we have completed the prescribed syllabus in due time. Regular assessment of students was also done through class test, seminars and discussions. The guest lectures by eminent Scientists and Professors were also organized for the benefit of student community. The faculty members have published their research work in various reputed scientific journals and also attended National and International conferences.
At this juncture I appreciate the efforts made by all teaching and non-teaching members and students of the Department to keep pace with quality for better excellence.
The Chemical Laboratory is well equipped with sophisticated instrumentation to carry out wide range of experimentation for student community
